I saw the sign, but I don't recall it said anything about any particular hours. I was actually thinking of buying a beer in the morning if it was that cheap. I'd rather not on the way home since I'll be driving.

Maybe a soft drink?

I've only missed my stop twice, and both times beer was involved. :p

Once I wasn't paying too much attention and missed OAC where I was going to take BART. I had an empty bottle in my hand as I explained my situation. The conductor said it was OK if I got off at RIC. The other time was last week's epic night at the Sierra Nevada Torpedo Room, where I lost track of how short a trip BKY-RIC was. One conductor asked about where I was going and he was puzzled when I said Richmond. The other conductor knew I'd missed my stop. That was rather interesting. I don't even think my wife cared as long as she knew I was drinking beer and not doing something else behind her back.

On the 544 now. The sign on this cafe car says 4-8, and there does appear to be a lot of adult beverages. I can't since I'm driving, but I did get a soft drink for under $1.

I've got plenty of $2 beer at home.

Train 542 had free snacks and raffle prizes in addition to the drinks. The conductor and LSA made plenty of announcements regarding the raffle and reduced "adult" drink prices. Seems like the public reaction was very positive. Train 542 is generally the most crowded and has the most "regulars" so the raffle and free snacks were probably an added Appreciation Bonus. Looks like a fun time was had in that cafe car!

Was it similar on train 544?
