I've been away from the forum for several weeks, so this may be old news. It was new to me. Just checked fares from Anniston, AL, to New Orleans for June 2015, and on the southbound leg, another option was given (NOT using multi-city)-- nb Crescent to Cap Ltd to CONO. Very circuitous routing, I thought, and one I've never seen offered over all the years I've been going to NOL.

On the return trip, this routing was not offered; only the usual northbound Crescent.

Just passing this on for those who might want a legal near-circle trip with overnights on trains. I don't know if this is a mistake, but it's there today.

Go for it! :)

And please tell me that June is not the usual time for the trackwork cancellations between ATL and NOL.

That could be the reason for it. In years past, 19/20 ran from NYP to ATL daily but between ATL and NOL only on the weekends during the track work. However, I'm confused why it would show ATN, as that is beyond ATL. How would the train get to ATN except coming from NOL?

I thought the Crescent track work is normally in January/February?

In the June the train runs daily NYP-NOL.

NativeSon: I did a forum search, and you are correct. It seems the track work is usually done in the winter. I just couldn't remember when I made my post.

I went back on the website last night, out of curiosity, and the looong routing up through WAS and CHI to get from Anniston, AL, to New Orleans was still offered. I'm baffled by this option. We've made many trips to NOL in the past, and this routing was never offered when we booked. Doesn't even make sense, but additional options are a good thing for the passenger, I suppose.

I know. I think it's strange that ATL-CHI via NOL isn't offered. It isn't even offered from Anniston, AL, which is even closer to NOL. I guess it may be because it would require an overnight in NOL at the passenger's expense, but many would probably be willing to do that.

Sometimes what's offered and not offered (without using multi-city) doesn't seem quite logical to me, but they don't ask me! :)
