I'm riding Amtrak to Toronto.... where can I buy a prepaid SIM card for use in Canada?

Are they sold at Amtrak stations in NY? Or the station in Toronto?

Thanks for any info on this!

7-Eleven stores have a service called SpeakOut Wireless. It looks like there are some stores near the station, but I haven't been in Toronto for a while, so I'm hazy on the geography. And unfortunately, you can't buy online from them (or any of the other services) without a Canadian credit card...but they'll take non-Canadian cards in the stores.

I don't want to give bad advice but before the remodeling of Union Station began there was a very nice Chinese gentleman that had a concession close to the VIA boarding gates that sold snacks, Lotto tickets and Phone Cards!

Ask the VIA crew when you change crews in Niagara Falls, ON! (where you do Customs and Immigration check)

And a tip, Business Class on the Maple Leaf has the nice 2x1 Seating, gets to do the "Papers Please!" Border thing first and is definetly worth the upgrade!

I'm visiting the US from the UK in September for 20 days and also would like to get a sim. I'll be in New Haven AM and Boston PM on my first day, so does anyone know of any sim-only plans that cover texts and data, and that can be bought near the stations?

Have you checked out eBay? We bought a US sim online from them for our trip to Europe. Why a US sim? Well, we had Verizon and it was useless in Europe and we just wanted to leave them home. We used some old unlocked GSM phones and picked up an Italian sim when we got there but needed a US one to get a hold of my brother in Atlanta (intermediate stop for each of us) and to call a neighbor and family when we got back to the first US airport then a neighbor at our final destination. In any case, cheap ones were readily available on FleaBay.

Remember that if you have a smartphone, the data roaming charges for Canada can be high -- so to prevent inadvertent usage, either swap the SIMs several miles south of the Canadian border (just to be safe) or disable data roaming until you're in Canada and the Canadian SIM is installed.
