Hi all,

Found this site thanks to AlanB's posts on a frequent flyer board that will not be named - guess!

I'm a VIA traveller, having done the Canadian, the Ocean, and many, many Corridor trips. Have never done Amtrak, but am planning a WAS - NOL - CHI trip in November. Formerly a travel agent, currently working in Civil Aviation, but love all forms of travel.

Here, there, everywhere, the experience is what it's all about.

Looking forward to learning, and maximizing my train experiences.

Welcome to AU!! Many AU'ers are on Flyertalk as well as AU!! Now here's the real kicker.. AGRInsider, Anthony is AU's founding father! I can tell you having meeting Anthony a handful of times he's a great guy!

Hello!

I just did CHI - NOL - WAS - CHI last week. It was lots of fun! I'll post a trip report with pictures at some point, probably this weekend.

Thanks, all. If anyone wants VIA info, I'm willing to dish :)

Or basic Canadian touristy stuff.

Looking forward to the TR, SarahZ - plan now is to fly to DCA, spend the day (Smithsonian, Postal museum), then the Crescent, two days in NOL, then the City of NOL, and maybe a night in CHI.

Will be good to compare accommodations on VIA versus Amtrak. Frankly, the bedroom for one on VIA is like a coffin - the bed pulls out from the wall, legs tucked under. I'm enthused by a roomette on Amtrak with maybe a bit more space.

That sounds wonderful. :)

I had a night in New Orleans and six hours in DC. Now that I've had a taste, I can't wait to spend more time in New Orleans, preferably when the heat index is not 107 degrees. DC was lots of fun too.

I definitely recommend spending a night/day in Chicago if you can swing it. There are so many things to do and lots of places to eat.
