Newbie from Texas

Greetings. I became re-acquainted with train travel a few years ago. Upon retirement I decided to spend time seeing the USA. Driving has its advantages, but enjoying the scenery while driving can be a bit of a problem. Solution – leave the driving to Amtrak

I may never be a big contributor to the website. But I appreciate all the work done by other members. Especially useful are the trip reports, which help me plan my itineraries, and information on lodging near stations. I am a solo traveler and finding places within walking distance of stations is sometimes a challenge.

I am not certain about a TX meeting (I'm not from TX), but there is our annual Gathering in October. This year it's in San Francisco - look at the Forum Members Gathering forum for more information. Every year, the location switches from each region (west, east and Midwest).

AU Members are always traveling all over the Country(after you are a full member you can read the members trips upcoming month by month) lots of us travel together, meet other AUers as they pass through our cities and as Dave said we have annual Gatherings in s different city every OcToner!
