Thinking about spending the night in Bellingham, WA. Anything near the station that's reasonable? Seems like most hotels are near the interstate or the airport. Any other information would be great too!

Just messaged a Bellingham friend on facebook, and here's his response:
I don't have the rates handy, by Fairhaven Village Inn is walking distance from Amtrak and Alaska Ferry (and Greyhound). Nice rooms, lots of good restaurants and shopping nearby.
I'm a "little Old Lady in Tennis Shoes" (LOLITS) from Eastern Oregon. I love to travel by train, though I live way out in the toolies, far from the nearest Amtrak station (Chemult). My station would have been Baker City, but they cancelled the Oregon Pioneer just before I took my first long-distance train trip as an adult. I've taken most trains in the West, but I'm still exploring new routes in the east.

I connect through Bellingham sometimes when I take the train, and stay at the Fairhaven Village Inn. The rates are probably higher than some other places, but the location can't be beat. They have water (and train-track) view rooms with fireplaces available. There is long-term parking available across the street from the station.
