Rep. Jackie Speier Puts Forth Bill To Extend TSA To Mass Transit

If I'm understanding correctly, the headline on the above article is misleading, as it quotes the article below, which suggests that the bill is more narrowly focused. I haven't actually read the bill, but it's linked from the article below.

House bill extends TSA intel sharing to mass transit

The Transportation Security Administration already shares intelligence it collects with airports. Now a House bill would expand TSA's intel sharing to local mass transit systems as well.

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), the bill's sponsor, said the legislation is a "common sense approach" to fighting terrorism. The House passed the bill May 30 and the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs is now considering the bill.

The TSA's data appears to be mostly inaccurate -- full of "terrorist watch lists" which include Congressmen, and absent of actual useful data. So while the bill might be a good idea with a competent TSA, one would hope that the mass transit systems who the TSA's bad intelligence is "shared" with will have the sense to ignore it. Garbage in garbage out.
