Basically, I have tried to find the answer to this but I am still not quite sure. I am headed out to Cincinnati at the end of this month and will be leaving from Fresno, California. I see on the new AGR map that Cincinnati is on the in both the Central and Eastern region. So the question is, will an AGR redemption trip count as two or three zones headed out there? Thanks for anyone who can help.

Cincinnati is indeed a border city and border cities are charged at the rate favorable to the traveller. So 2 zones from Fresno.
2012: 2,254 Rail Points 1,792 miles
previous: 4,116 miles Empire Builder, Hiawatha, Capital Corridor, Cascades, Keystone, Pacific Surfliner, NEC, Pennsylvanian, Texas Eagle, Illinois Service

As said, a border city is in both zones. if coming from or going west, it's in the zone on the western side. (In this case the Central Zone.) if coming from or going east, it's in the eastern side. (In this case the Eastern Zone.)
So Fresno to Cinncy would be the Western Zone and the Central Zone only - 2 zones!
