I pulled up to the downed gates and flashing signals this morning about 10:15am in Pana, Il. Rolling by was a UP locomotive followed by UP cars "Texas Eagle, Feather River, and the domed Colombine" with a UP locomotive at the end. Looked like about eight people in the dome. No idea who or why, but a nice sight to see.
 
Here is a video I took of these cars when it came through Chico awhile back. It had a WP engine on one end and a SP engine on the other. I got a ride in the dome car--on the lower level, unfortunately. The city counsel members, mayor, and other assorted big shots rode up top.
