I thought that the temporary schedule change for train 92, the northbound Silver Star, that had it running five hours earlier due to track work in Virginia was supposed to be completed by 29 March. What gives? Was the track curfew extended or something?

The Amtrak service alert for the Silver Star temporary schedule change states that it is in effect through arrival at NYP on April 5. This service alert was issued on March 22, so this is not a new change. CSX may still be doing some remaining track work this week that required a shift in the northbound Star schedule.

There is a rumor that CSX track work in May will require more time shifting.

Aha! Now you see, back before the actual track work started, I specifically looked for a service alert from Amtrak, but none was to be found. I found a PDF file of a poster that was supposed to be posted in stations with the new schedule, but said poster gives a completion date of 29 March. If the most updated service alert is dated 22 March, I wouldn't have seen it. The PDF file came from a railfan site, not from Amtrak. Amtrak's website still doesn't seem to have the revised schedule posted anywhere easily accessible for passengers.

The NCDOT website, www.bytrain.org, often has more accurate and timely info than Amtrak's website -- for trains that transit NC.

It will be taken down soon, but there is a service alert on the Silver Star schedule change on the Service alert web page. Since this was a straight five hour shift in the schedule, they did not put out a revised PDF time table.

Aha! Thank you for that! They had the exact same PDF file that I was talking about from earlier, except now it says that it's effective until 5 April instead of 29 March.

Fair enough. Thanks!

Both resources give a completion date of 5 April, so I assume it's safe to say that this is the last week of revised schedules.
