yesterday the texas eagle from austin to chicago was $378 high bucket
5 minites ago it just droped to $194 low bucket the amtrak santa claus
just made me beleive in miricles and i grabed it

This happens all the time. I had such good fortune for my summer trip to CHI. BTW, you don't need to tell us EVERYTHING.

As was said, this does happen especially with the New System of Starting Out High and Selling Low during the Middle Part of the Rez Cycle! The Texas Eagle from CHI-AUS on Fri 5/18 for example shows a Roomette for $132 (that's Below the Current Low Bucket of $194!! )and a Bedroom on Fri 5/24 for $266!! (A Good deal!!!) Fridays is the New Day (Replacing Thursday) for #421 from CHI-LAX so perhaps Amtrak is doing this to Drum up Sales on this Route?? Glad you Scored this Deal, Coach from CHI-AUS is not the Best Trip on Amtrak!! Another Example of How Great Amsnag is!!

this will be the trip of a lifetime but as people tell me traveling on the texas eagle will be something to remember

That happened with me recently as well. I had already booked a ticket for the Cardinal from CHI-NYP on January 3, in coach because the roomettes were priced at $400 when I had originally booked in August. In mid-November, the price for the roomette dropped to $199. As soon as I saw this online, I called Amtrak and booked the roomette upgrade for that price. The next day, the roomette price was back up to $400.
