Likely a repeat question here:

Two friends were ticketed CHI-DAL in January. They used the referrals that I had sent to them to join AGR, had the AGR numbers added to their rez, and then boarded train two days later. They have recieved the trip points, and the 500 bonus points each, but I have not recieved the referral bonus :( ..............

Any tips as what to do?

When did their points post?Posted Image

As I don't know when my referred members and/or guests took their trips, I don't know how long it was, but I was just happy when they showed up!Posted Image I would say if they do not show up in a month, call and question it!

Are you certain that they registered for AGR USING THE LINK IN THE E-MAIL? They could have registered directly, and still get 500 points, but unless they used that link, you would not get 500 points!Posted Image

They SAY they used the link. They traveled in early Jan...Jan 2. They got the points sometime around Jan 25th.
I still have not gottem the bonus.

Would I call AGR directly? Should I call or get one of them to call? I suppose I should have one of their AGR numbers handy, no?

Since they posted just over a week ago, I'd say allow some more time. Then yes, you should call AGR directly.

Called them last week and the agent checked into it. He said "yes, they joined using your referral link" , "yes they traveled", "yes they have recieved their bonus points"................but could not tell me why I did not get the referral bonus.

He sent it to a different department to check into. I called again today, and amazingly enough got the same agent....he remembered the previous call, and checked into it again.........still no answer, as he said the "operations department is still looking into it"............My guess is that I will never get the points, nor ever refer anyone again.

I'm very surprised that the agent (especially after the 2nd call) didn't just post 500 "goodwill" points to your account immediately!Posted Image They have done that for me several times - especially like for a Thruway Bus ride that didn't post - instead of sending the problem to another department!

As for no more referrals for you, that's more referrals - and more points - for me to get!Posted Image

Call back until you get a different agent. There are some excellent agents out there, and some that... well, seem a bit .

I've never had referral points not post, but then I've only referred one person - Mrs. Crockett , but when I had a different issue with not getting points that I should have for a different promotion, they gave me goodwill points without any fuss when I explained the situation. :)
I wish I was a headlight on a northbound train.

I just may refer my friends to you from now on,:hi:

I spoke with them again today, different agent, was told that they could do nothing because the "operations department" needed to figure out why the system did not automatically give me the points. She spoke with a "lead agent" and told me that I may get the points in a month or two, or they may never give them to me, if they do not find the glitch in the system.

She agreed that the points were supposed to be awarded, but they do not know why they were not awarded. And I have to wait and see if they ever figure it out.
Pretty crappy way to run a railroad, IMHO.

I have nearly 34, 000 points, and have never used any, waiting for enough to do a good long trip (and see if the g/f can be a good train travel partner) but if this is the best AGR can do, I am really leery of trying to get tix for a long trip through them.
Sorta makes me unhappy to have been such a cheerleader for Amtrak and AGR..........

Geeze... I understand your frustration. I'm in no way trying to make excuses for AGR, and this is PURE speculation  , but it sounds to me that either: 1) The system crashed and the files are all screwed up or 2)There have been some accounting 'irregularities' in the system and that they are trying to figure out if someone has a scam going (I won't mention any names that come to mind ) and they don't want to end up giving you 'double' points. It doesn't help in the short run, but the points still could very well show up in the long run. Still don't seem right though...

500 points were posted on Tuesday, and the other 500 were posted this morning. Why they were done 4 days apart, I don't know, and why they were done 8 weeks after the new members traveled, I don't know either....but they ARE there now.
