First, Patrick Galligan (whooz) has decided to resign from the committee. :( I for one would like to thank Patrick for all of his efforts and help in organizing and making the first 5 Gatherings a major success. I hope that all who have enjoyed one or more Gatherings will also thank Patrick for his efforts!

Next, Joe Hess (hessjm) has agreed to join the committee taking over Patrick's seat as it were. So please join me in thanking Joe for taking on this challenge! :)

Additionally, Eric Minton (GG-1) has almost from the beginning be a quasi-member of the Committee. He was never formally asked to be a member and announced as such, but various circumstances led to his being able to view the special forum where the Committee discusses things and this past year he even took on the challenge of printing up the name tags for Gathering V in Seattle. So I have asked Eric if he would like to officially be a member of the Committee and he has accepted. So please join me in welcoming Eric and thanking him for being part of the effort to make our Gatherings a success both in the past and now going forward! :)

Finally, I do want to let everyone know that the Committee has started working on the city & dates for the 2012 Gathering. I'm hoping that we'll have some news to announce early next year so that people can start plotting out what they need to do to get to our next Gathering, which will be on the East Coast this year.
Alan,

Take care and take trains!

Congrats to Eric and Joe :) , we're counting on yall to help counterbalance the East/NorthEast Bias that's been evident on the Comittee! (just kidding!)I know that yall will help make the next Gathering, which I suggest for Philadelphia, even Bigger and better than the First Five! And thanks to Patrick :hi: for all his contributions and information he has brought to the Comittee and this Forum!!

Hope to See See ya' in the Windy City for the Gathering in Oct!!!

First of all I would like to thank all of the gathering committee members for the job well done in Seattle as It was my first. Patrick, THANK YOU for your efforts to help this group! Just one question, did the Amtrak special agent run you off?

I know that Eric and Joe are both up to the job and will be great at it.

Speaking of great I would like to personally thank Anthony and Alan, without whom this board would no be possible. I also would like to thank the moderators for their tireless efforts to try to keep what sometimes can be a crazy house under control!

Hope to see many more AU'ers in the east?

Al aka oldtimer

A little birdie told me the gathering will be in Hawaii. I heard the underground amtrak tunnel connecting L.A to all the islands is compleate but will take 6 months to get there due to freight delays.

I've been wanting to ask this, and I think that now would be an appropriate time. I noticed the recent changes to some of the statuses of our members. With pennyk and hessjm, and maybe another one or two who I don't remember, having the status as committee member, does that mean that they are on the committee. With Penny's(supposedly excellent) planningof the FL mini gathering, she probablydeserves a spot. But who are all of the members?
Amtrak: Pacific Surfliner (100000000000), Southwest Chief (5), California Zephyr (1), Coast Starlight (6), Capitol Corridor (1), Empire Builder (2), Acela Express (1), LSL (1), NE Regional (2)
Non-Amtrak: NCTD Coaster (at least 20), Metrolink (4), SD Trolley (at least 20), LACMTA Red Line (at least 50), Seattle Streetcar (1), Chicago 'L' (probably 13), NYC Subway (probably 15), WMATA Mass Transit (probably 20), LIRR (1), Las Vegas Monorail (at least 12), MBTA Mass Transit (16), NJ Transit commuter rail (3), I'm sure there are more that I can't think of right now

upcoming Amtrak: Pacific Surfliner (10000000000 more),
upcoming non-Amtrak: Coaster, Red Line/Expo Line in LA

Pretty good for a 16 year old :)
