PATH service to the World Trade Center resumed Sunday as the last train to leave the besieged terminal on Sept. 11, 2001, was the first to return to a glittery new terminal carved into the shell of the toppled Twin Towers.
The mid-morning arrival of car #801 marked a major milestone in the conversion of the site to a vibrant commercial hub that city planners say pays tribute to the 3,000 lost by bringing back a pulsating business district.
