I just now got the call from Amtrak that the LSL is leaving at 9pm, rather than 10pm. I had wondered how they were going to notify ticket holders.

What kind of weather should we expect? Here in Northern Illinois, we're transitioning from summer to winter and I suspect Boston is much like what we have here.

So, is it sweatshirts or short sleeves?

MrsFSS already has her winter coat out to take. I suspect long sleeves and flannel shirts!

Betty;
I'm leaving all my T-shirts and short sleeves where they belong~ in the deep south. I will probably experience the coldest weather as I am staying two hours north of Portland in Central maine.

Hi!
So far, we are having a typical fall here in Boston...warmish days in the upper 60s and cool nights in the upper 30s and 40s.
I recommend dressing in layers...wear a short sleeve something under a long sleeve something. That way, if there is a breeze or a chill in the air, you can have *enough* clothing..I might slip in a pair of gloves too as I think Maine can be kinda of cooler than here.

BTW: I saw that the itinerary includes a trip on the Providence Line. I was joking with my husband that maybe I should make a sandwich board that reads "Hi AUF folks!" and go stand on the platform at Route 128 and wave to you all! Of course, he looked at me as if I have lost my mind..something he does quite frequently! ;)

Parkas, mukluks, and snow shoes. Additionally, I'm packing a collapsible harpoon on the off chance that we get to go for a Nantucket sleighride.

Thanks, Jackie, I hadn't thought about gloves. I've put that on my list.

Along with my Fez.

Speaking of Fezzes, Patrick, do you still have the long underwear you packed for Chicago a couple years ago?

Again, speaking of fezzes, is there any objection if owners of fezzes beautify them with their own personal touches?

1. You bet! Already had a collection from living in NY for several years, added a couple sets for 1st Gathering, and they're RailRiot-ready.

2. Fez beautification and personalization are heartily encouraged, although points will be deducted if the result makes one look like a Red Hat refugee.

Time change is Sunday, Nov. 1. For those who have a tough time going into a new time zone, this will be twice as hard.

Not bad if you live in the eastern zone.

Coming from Chicago, I'll turn my clock ahead an hour when I get into Boston. Then while I'm there, I'll turn it back and hour. Then when I go back to Chicago, I'll turn it back another hour.

Funny thing. Where I live the farmers keep their clocks at the same time all year 'round. The cows don't know the difference!
