49 to Chi-town

Took 49 from NYP to CHI on Mon-Tue. Delay of 90 mins at Albany due to malfuntioning AC in a Viewliner. Due to the oppressive heat, one sleeper passenger was taken to the hospital, while there weren't enough seats in coach to accommodate sleeper passengers who didn't want to be on that Viewliner. (I was in coach to begin with). Diner ran out of food before Utica. :angry: Arrived in CHI at 11:05 am.

I must become consist-literate, in that I could have recorded a number of them during those 90 mins in Albany. Impressive new terminal there, BTW.

ELNew Branch, we had a simialr Viewliner AC failure on the Star a few days ago (P091-21 Car 62008). Fortunately the failure occured on the corridor, so they were able to add an Amfleet I at WAS to protect the B/O'd car.

Just want to clarify that the sick passenger was what I heard from other passengers and not an eyewitness account. Was told that the passenger already had health problems before the AC problem.
