Hello,

Until we can resurrect the indices from the old forums, we have set up these boards for our visitors to chat on. We are working on merging the members from the old forums, but please feel free to go ahead and register yourself here too. If you have any problems with the boards, please let either I or Tristan know so that we can get right on the issue.

IT is my sincere hope that these new boards will not have the same bugs as the old ones (for example, not being able to stay logged in).

Sorry about the inconvenience, and thanks for your understanding.

Great job guys! :)

Are we going to continue using Invision once the old indicies are resurrected?

As far as I know, yes we will continue using this board. How do you like it? Is it an improvement over the last one?

As a short note to those that didn't know the reason for the sudden change: the forum index files that tell the old forum (Ikonboard) where to find all of the posts, were trashed by a server software crash/error. Until we can reconstruct those index files, and somehow merge them with this board, we will have this current board/situation. It is my hope that this board will serve the users better than the old one, which was riddled with problems.

Plus this one looks better...and is still in development...just let us know of any issues you have with it (it seems to be a bit complicated at first but actually much simpler when you start using it good).

I like the new Invision discussion board over the old one. It has more smilies icons :)

I can't think of something needs an improvement. Time will tell.

Hey Guys,
Wow, you go camping for a couple of days and you come back to a new discussion board. Very nice none the less. Well I'm here to stay and contribute to this forum.

Still trying to get used to the board after making a few posts. ;) I've got a few questions though. Will the original post from the old board return? Will the statas of a specific poster return (500 posts "Conductor")?

Amfleet,

Anthony and Tristan are working on trying to salvage the old posts, but as of now I have no idea of a time frame and I'm not sure if they've even got one. They had to scramble around just to get this board up in about 7 hours after the old one died. So I think that they are still recovering from all that work.

As far as the counts of posts, I know that all of that info was lost in the crash. Perhaps as they resurect the old posts this board may somehow incorporate how many each person had, but I'm not sure of that. I also suspect that at least for the moment, that's not a high priority for Anthony.

Actually, individual members' post counts are still there, except unfortunately AlanB's somehow got lost. I think it's because he logged into the old board between the time of the crash and the time of the new board being put up. Sorry about that Alan! As for the other members, I will soon look for a way to add the # of posts from this board with the # of posts from the old one, to create a revised post count for members. What did get lost was the forum index files (that tell the discussion board where to find the posts), and the overall post counts for the whole forum. All of the old post / thread data is still there, but Ikonboard can't see them because the index files are gone.

(Amfleet: a server software crash occurred, breaking the Poll on the main page as well as the Ikonboard forum as I just described above)

I'm still trying to get used to this board myself - it is a big improvement over the old one, but I still need to get up to speed on the admin part of it, and see if I can re-institute those old rankings (Train Attendant through Conductor). Fortunately Tristan knows how to work these boards, as he has experience with this software - so we're not totally lost.

Okay, it does appear that I can edit members' post counts.

I'll go ahead and fix the existing members' counts from the old board.

Okay, everyone's post counts should be fixed. As members from the old board sign up, I'll keep updating with post counts.

Wow! The new board looks great. Amazing what happens when you go on an overnight train trip (I'll post a travelogue later, I promise).
